SIRMA is a genre-bending singer, songwriter and music producer.
Born and raised in Istanbul, SIRMA grew accustomed to hearing the kind of music that many consider unconventional. Studying classical piano and jazz singing in her teenage years helped build a solid base for her adventurous compositions. But it was her decision to enroll in Berklee College of Music that gave her an introduction to the tools she needed to become a self-sufficient artist.
After spending four years in Boston, SIRMA moved to NYC to work as a sound engineer by day and recording artist by night. It was around then that her early demos caught the attention of EDM superstar, ILLENIUM. Their collaborative singles “Drop Our Hearts” and “Drop Our Hearts, Pt. 2” opened up a new avenue for SIRMA as a topliner. Determined to expand her skill set, she worked as a session singer, educator, and writer to establish her own sound and brand in the coming years.
Though she received recognition from prestigious publications like Entertainment Weekly, The Line of Best Fit and Clash, SIRMA considers the success of her first self-produced Turkish single as the major turning point of her career. The song, titled “Belki Bir Gün”, reached #3 on Spotify’s Viral 50 Turkey chart a week after its release. When her follow-up English single, “Coming Undone”, made its global radio debut on Apple Music’s Beats 1, SIRMA realized that working in the music industry full-time might not be a far-fetched dream.
In 2019, SIRMA launched an online course titled Modern Pop Vocal Production in collaboration with Soundfly. While creating the content for her course, she discovered the joy of writing educational content for musicians. Since then, she has penned countless articles for music tech companies such as Roland, Output, and LANDR, among others.
In 2021, SIRMA got recruited to compose, produce, mix and master original music for Meta’s Sound Collection as an extension of her solo project. Under this initiative, SIRMA’s songs reached millions of listeners via Instagram reels posted by massive brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga and Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
As a vocal producer, SIRMA has recently branched out to the realm of sample pack creation. Her first vocal pack in collaboration with BandLab came out in August 2024. Her second vocal pack, created for Splice, is slated to release in February 2025.
Today, SIRMA continues her musical journey, wearing many hats, day by day. When she’s not working on her own projects, she can be found collaborating with other musicians: cowriting, producing, consulting, and connecting.
